A group of Oxford filmmakers and cinema students had their budget sitcom pilot aired world-wide on Amazon’s streaming service in August. Lecturers and students from Oxford Brookes, the University of Oxford and the SAE Institute, helped to create the first episode which is called Superclaims.
The production manager, Patrick Watremez ’10, teaches filmmaking at SAE. Govind Chandran ’15 and Tom Walker ’16, were co-writer-directors. Govind currently teaches at Oxford Brookes while making films in his spare time.
The year-long Amazon Video Direct pilot production was run by a central group of 12 directors, sound and lighting technicians and actors from across Oxford. Available to watch on Amazon Prime, Superclaims follows the antics of an insurance firm which specialises in covering superheroes.
Boston Brewery’s Joe McGrail ’13 studied at Brookes for just one year – but he still misses it every day.
