Video: Akala’s graduation speech

On 23 June 2018 the award-winning hip-hop artist, education activist and author, Akala received an honorary doctorate from Oxford Brookes in recognition of his educational work.

At the ceremony, he urged new graduates to maintain good habits in order to achieve their goals. Watch his speech below:

Akala first worked with Oxford Brookes as keynote speaker at our Magna Carta symposium in 2015 – attended by over 120 local school students who praised his inspirational speech. In 2016 he gave a talk to students on broadening education to make it more inclusive. We are looking forward to working with him in the years to come.
