In June the Oxford School of Nursing and Midwifery was officially launched.

The School is a partnership between Oxford Brookes University, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, under the umbrella of the Oxford Academic Health Science Centre (OAHSC).

The School uniquely combines education, clinical practice and research across the nursing, midwifery and allied health professions.

With a focus on increased collaborative working and sharing best practice, the School was developed to better meet the challenges of a significant period of change in nursing and midwifery education.

Teaching began at the School as of September with Andrew MacCallum appointed as the new Director. Andrew was previously Interim Chief Nursing Officer at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and has over 30 continuous years of experience in the nursing profession.

Speaking at the time of his appointment, Andrew said: “The Oxford School of Nursing and Midwifery is an exciting and innovative partnership, bringing together our strengths in education, clinical practice and research.

“I am looking forward to leading the new School and working with colleagues at Oxford Brookes and the local NHS Trusts.”
